The Pousada Dos Vinhaticos Hotel is named after a local tree called the Vinhatico and the hotel is decorated entirely with furnishings made from this wood. Serra d`Agua is a small, quiet village in the Ribeira Brava area and is a good base for walking in Madeira`s famous `levadas`, originally ancient irrigation channels that are now used as footpaths. There is a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants in the village and a local market

Rating and advising on hotels around the world is a tricky business as standards and facilities vary so widely not to mention issues such as décor style, service levels and location with particular relevance to gay amenities.
We don’t pretend that we have got this right but our Pink Triangles are our attempt to give a personal assessment to enable comparisons to be made between the various properties in an area which we feature. Couple this with price and our hotel descriptions and you should be able to make a reasonable assessment.
