The village of Gouvia was originally built on the site of an ancient Venetian harbour and is the site of the islands main marina. The landscape offers pine forests, vineyards wild flowers and orchids whilst the nearby beach is a mixture of pebble and sand. On the beach there are pedaloes, canoes, waterskiing and paragliding whilst the surrounding area has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.
