With a busy and picturesque harbour as its focal point, Kos town has many interesting shops and a lovely waterfront with open air bars, cafes, local style tavernas and restaurants. Nightlife is fairly hectic in town with several streets devoted to music, cocktails and dancing. There are also more relaxed areas with open air coffee shops which overlook some romantic ruined temples - an ideal combination for ending a stressful day. The little square (or platan) of Hippocrates is nearby and many local street sellers ply their wares during the Summer days and nights. The sandy/shingle beach in town is long and lined loungers, parasols and watersport activities.
