Tunisia Holidays and Hotel Information
With 800 miles of Mediterranean coastline, swaying palm trees and the Sahara desert as a backdrop, holidays to Tunisia, are every bit as exotic as you would expect. This Arab country is distinctly Mediterranean in style, part shaped by nearly 100 years of French colonial rule. Tunisia combines the modern with the ancient, there are new hotels and shopping centres but also ancient walled ‘medinas’ and Roman ruins. Temperatures stay warm throughout the year and the African tropical climate ensures that holidays in Tunisia are perfect for those seeking sun, sea and sand.
The Sousse Medina has within its walls the Great Mosque, Ribat fortress and several souks. The Kasbah in Hammamet is believed to date back to the 15th century and the Sahara desert can also be visited via coach or camel.
Tunisia has a variety of cultures and religions that all add to the countries exotic atmosphere, heritage and different way of life. Tunisia is also popular with other sport enthusiasts especially golfers who will find some nice courses especially near Port el Kantaoui and Skanes.

Beaches
The majority of the Tunisian resorts are on the coast and have miles and miles of Sahara sand to lay a towel on. Most hotels in Tunisia have their own private sections of beach however with so much sand there are no crowds to fight through to find some space. Port El Kantaoui’s beach is wide and sandy whilst the beach at Sousse is particularly long. Skanes beaches are modern and gently shelving offering a safe environment for small children.
On holiday to Tunisia there is no shortage of watersports in all the main beach areas and visitors can enjoy paragliding, windsurfing and diving amongst others.
Shopping
Most Tunisian towns have souk markets and bazaars, with endless small shops and stalls, offering products the region is famous for. Carpets, leather, pottery, copperware and even bird cages can all be bought, or haggled for within these markets.
The local enamelled jewellery always makes a popular souvenir to take home. If all the haggling and bargain hunting gets too tiring there are plenty of cafes and bars to take a break.
Nightlife
Sousse and Hammamet are the best places to visit if you are looking for bars and discos on your holidays in Tunisia. Hammamet also has 2 casinos and during summer the open air discos become very popular.
Much of the nightlife is arranged within the hotels, with their own entertainment teams, shows and nightclubs. Food is a real experience with extensive use of spices, olive oil, citrus fruits and mint. Local foods are available in the hotels but to really experience the best dishes it is best to go native and try to eat at one of the restaurants away from the hotels own.
